I have to disagree on one small point of this excellent write-up: IIRC The Hiluxes (not-so-mini-any-more mini-trucks that are still sold worldwide) do NOT have solid axles, at least not that I have seen. I'm pretty sure they are IFS and the Land Cruisers have solid front axles. The Hilux may even still use the torsion bar suspension system.
