While parts matter quite a bit, the most critical part is the machine work and reassembly. I can't stress enough it is all about spec. Spec. Spec. Spec. Spec. Anything that is still within spec should be left alone and  not machined. This includes the bores if they are still in spec. Most 22r I've dealt with need very little actual machine work. Most peoplet get talked into machine work by a machinist, or they just think it's the right thing to do. I'm a machinist. It's not the right thing to do. Get a fsm. Spec every thing out. I don't care how good your machinist is. He cannot add material. Therefore he cannot beat stock toyota spec. Make sure your machinist has new equipment, or it appears well maintained. If you have any ? You can pm me. I've built many of these engines.
