The complete units from trucklite are excellent as are jw speaker however they are twice the money.

LED's just don't give of the distance that a good lens can.

I'm going this route next year.   Glass housing, and brighter bulbs with a lifetime warranty.

Here is a photo of my trucklites. At night.

I love the super clean cut-off that they offer. And the light spreads all the way out to the side. But they are ridiculously expensive. Whatever you get make sure it is DOT approved. I bought some H4 lenses once that weren't and they were complete garbage. Giant dark spots right in the middle where you need light the most and no cut-off so I was blinding oncoming drivers and getting flashed all the time.

I have the lights that marlin sells with the H4 bulbs. they are good lights over the stock lights but I can't even tell if they are on when I turn on my Rigid Industries LED's. I never heard of the truck lite ones

SlayTank

Man these look super sweet, maybe I shoulda saved for them instead of buying the ones marlin sells...

After buying a pair i'd be almost a quarter way to what I paid for the truck

redneckcustoms13

You get what you pay for. I'd love a set, but as tank put it above. I couldn't justify it. I'm running the cheap $20 ebay projector housings and will install led bulbs eventually. like mud master above I plan to just run some offroad lights when I'm in the woods.

I did the Vision X upgrade and it is better than stock.

I know the tech exists to make them 'brighter' but....things seem fine for me.

Trying to compete with 'modern' lights seems like a waste of time.  I am guessing it would require a dedicated lighting upgrade ot match the 'brightness' of the modenr cars on the road.  Seems like a lot of hassle to upgrade our truck to meet the level of todays cars.

I cant tell if I am getting old, or modern headlights are getting brighter.

If I don't ask the stupid question, who will?

LittleSteve

There is just as much tech in the reflectors now as the lights, you could buy a good lamp/lense and add a good quality aftermarket h4 led and youd be good to go

the best aftermarket housings ive seen so far are the AUTOPAL ones with a decent h4 bulb.

focus light better than the crystal clear reflector housings which scatter it, as the autopals still retain some ribbing in the glass like the factory lights do.

Sorry, the Trucklites are awesome, I was referring to the ones that were posted in the original post.  Several locals have bought similar ones, they put out alot of light, but they just don't have the distance.  The Trucklites have the reflector properties that are needed.  But at $250 a lens, that will scare off alot of people.  Hence why there are hundreds of the cheaper LED lights all over Ebay and Amazon.

Im pretty sure that LEDs last a very long time...

"LEDs have a general life expectancy of 50 000 hrs. If you use your lights for 10 hours a day, this should be 13.7 yrs."

They have a built in dimming processor that rapidly switches them on and off faster than the eye can perceive to regulate their temperature so they stay nice and cool. They will probably outlive me.

That is the nicest thing about the trucklites. They are DOT approved and have a horizontal cut-off to prevent blinding oncoming drivers. I've never been flashed with mine.
