Since I haven't done much to my truck yet (besides chevy rears) I figured I'd run it through a mud bog comp this weekend.
How do you think it will do?
What breakage am I looking at?

No Power

You need bigger tires to race mud boggs
About some 38's ought ta do .
However your smaller tires prolly = less broken parts
Anyways good luck :gap:
Roll me back over !!!

UNBREAKABLE

As far as a Mud Bog goes, you are underpowered and your tires aren't tall enough. Alot of mud pit trucks run 38x11.00 Boggers with every other lug cut out. And powerful V-8 engines are a must
That's how I roll

Try it an see!  Remember the pictures!

The Toyota's light weight should be an advantage in a mud bog, right?  You may be able to make due with less power and smaller tires.  A lot of mud boggers seem to be big full size trucks with big V8s and big tires, but I bet your Toy is about half the weight of a full size truck, it'll just glide over the mud instead of sink.  Give it a shot, man!  Keep them wheels spinnin'!

after 4000 they dont make any more power. u got a locker in there? regardless i say go out and have a blast and hope ya do well

don't listen to that v-8 crap..

I have raced many bogs in the 4cyl class snd its every bit as fun and racing the v-8 class..sure its not as fast,,but racing other 4 bagers is still fun..Sure bigger tires and more horse powers is great..However at mud fest my 22r powered runner was beating lifted v-8 rigs with bigger tires..

I think its how you drive and what gears you use..last year my wife took 3rd place with a 2.7 tacoma in the womens stock v-8 class..she was over powered and over tired and still whooped ass on those v-8's...Its how you drive..the big bogs will suck you every time..But most of the time bogs built for racing are not endless deep,,there built within reason for racing..

At a mud drag a few years ago a guy showed up driving a mazda b2300 4x with 11" of lift sitting on 39.5" mickey thompson baja belteds.  He was geared and welded otherwise nothing major.  He never got stuck the whole day of racing.  He wasnt fast but with those tires he basically floated along ont he rev limiter in 2nd gear. :gap:

I think you'll do fine.  Ive seen lesser rigs do decent, its all about what elst is in your class.  Id highly recomend welding the rear though.  It will make a world of difference.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

Best to have a tall skinny tire like 34" ,38" or 42" swampers with 18 psi or so. Don't forget to keep the rpm's up and work that wheel back and forth to keep it moving. If you start to fall in a rut cut into it and cross it up. Try to stay on the sides of the big rutts by bouncing back an forth from side to side so you don't settle down in them and high side.

Good luck and remmember tire speed helps.

i was always wondering why would a narrower tire be better???

Lets assume that there is a bottom to the mud hole and you don't have mega hp. It takes less power to turn them faster and keep them clean. If the mud plugs the tread you have slicks. Also there is less ground or mud to move from in front of the tire so you can advance forward. Think of the tires as pumps cause that's what they do in mud. The thicker the mud the harder it is to keep them clean. So when the mud is wetter it is easier to keep moving. A narrower tire will also get to the hard bottom faster and have more weight per square inch for better traction on the slippery stuff.

But if you have lots of hp and can spin the tires in high gear the wider the better. You need to grab as much material as you can and try to hydroplane across the top. If you drop down and get bogged down you have little chance of getting back up again. Gravity sucks, that's just how it works.

:usa: -  For those about to Bog......We salute you

I would agree..it really depends on the mud..If there is a bottom then tall and skinny..If there is no bottom but the mud is kind of firm them wide and float...I have found a skinny front to cut through and a wide rear seem to do pretty well..

I ended up not running it, and doing some more work on it instead.
The bogs were sweet though.

your toyota wud of did vary good
i got a friend with the same truck looks the same and he is runing 33X10.50s
and he wins sum times

My guess is that you would have done better than you think. If your on 4.10s, 2nd gear low range is your friend. Keep the RPMs up just cause it WILL bog down and when it does it will drop you right to where that 22re will make most of it's power. Not having a bed is an advantage cause less weight will let the tires spin easier and they will clean better without mud dropping back down on them. Go ahead and sign up for the next one. And I hope your washer fluid pump and wipers are working.
