Is this the same "ZUK" that Zuk Hill is named for on the Golden Spike Trail?

And this is a Zuk as in...?

As in that is his handle. He's one of the most well known guys in the toyota world. His website is http://gearinstalls.com

Zuk Hill is named for a particular guy that went by Zuk, I think.  He did drive a Suzuki and would have been pre-2000 I would guess. Figured it might be the same guy. I asked David Adams from Red Rocks 4wheelers if he know the guys name.  He could have switched to Toyota in the last 15-20 years.

I stand corrected. I just texted him about it. It is indeed named after him. I asked him for the story behind it. Forthcoming.

This is what I'm getting that from:
http://www.thefabricator.com/article/shopmanagement/cryogenic-processingadispelling-the-myths-mysteries

This is really an interesting article and I suspect is scientifically sound.  One thing that I learned is that you have to heat the part after freezing it to complete the process.  Here's the part that I found most interesting:

"Bond explained that the cryogenic process is actually a more sophisticated process than that, starting with raising the temperature to 200 degrees F, dropping it to -300 degrees F, then usually back to +300 degrees F, then to room temperature. The final portion is necessary to finalize the process.

'Taking it down to -300 degrees produces fresh martensite, which is brittle,' Bond said. 'Taking it up to 300 degrees stabilizes it.'

This isn't to say that +300 degrees F is the upper limit; depending on the material, it might need to be heated to +700 degrees F, according to Frederick Diekman, CEO of Controlled Thermal Processing Inc., Antioch, Ill. Regardless of the temperature range, the science behind cryogenic processing is essentially the same as the science behind conventional thermal treatments. For example, the amount of time needed for cryogenic treatment is similar to that of heat treatment, a specified time per inch of thickness, according to Jantzi."

Any specifics provided for the process used for your ring & pinion?  I know there are clear improvements from the process, but would love to see a side by side test similar to what Bobby Long did with his axles to really see how the various gear brands stacked up both before and after.  If I ever win the lottery and have money to burn, this will be on my list.

I wonder if it would be worth it to cryo treat my stock front axle shafts so long as they're still useable...

Nice diff.  Zuk is an awesome guy to work with.  I have a huge binder with numerous gear builds of his I used to use when I did diffs.

I am still not understanding? So You know how they come apart?
No sarcasm? Just not sure what information you are saving for reuse?

Have you visited his site that was mentioned earlier?  I use those, plus I have PM'd Zuk in the past, to set gear patterns and verify shims and what not.  He provides, as you've seen previously, the best, IMHO, illustrations/documentation.

Yeah you should really visit his site, Chris. It isn't too difficult to figure out the entire process of building a differential with how detailed his write ups are.

Mudder

His write ups are what make me comfortable rebuilding my own diff's with how much detail he supplies.
