i would check there is no air in the fuel before the injection pump.
with a small tank like that the fuel may not have enough time for any trapped air to come out before its pumped back to the IP.
the IP will pump something like 40gph to and from the tank.
you have to watch the heat a bit but your facet should flow enough to cool down the small tank.
