Rest In Peace Robin Williams, I remember seeing at the Comedy Store when you were a struggling stand up comedian in the 70's. Funny as hell then and just as funny now. Nanu, Nanu!

Well said. Depression can be devastating, addiction must make it so much worse. It's always been hard for me to understand how some people who seemingly 'have it all' can also have so many problems. No idea if there's anything to this theory, but I got to wondering if someone who has nothing more to prove or accomplish also has nothing left to look forward to. Sad, sad situation......

My goal in life is to be as a good a person as my dog already thinks I am.

It must be rough to have things so well that your outlook is so bleak.  Life is a great gift not to be given back too early.

If you achieve everything you sought, everything you dreamed of...and still there is emptiness, what happens then?

I don't envy celebrity.

Depression is a serious issue.  My wife has depression, but she will not admit to it.  Everything has to be bright, cheery and positive around her.  She won't watch the news, or watch CSI type shows.  I don't talk about how broke we are.  When she says we are going to Disneyland next year, I have to work my ass off to make it happen.  Even if that means refinancing the house, I HAVE to make it happen.

I've lost many friends to depression.  Its a condition you don't joke around about.  Robin Williams hid his depression with comedy.  And many have addictive personalities too!  He was smart, but he kept being funny to try to hide the dark side.  And the darkness won.  And we have to face the facts that its real.  Most of us won't get it.  Most of us are strong and secure in who we are, and how we see ourselves.  Sometimes we have to cover up the fact that we are weak.

I will miss a very funny man.

I think everybody hits a dark spot or two in life.  It's just how life goes.  It's how you deal with, learn and grow from it that makes you what you are.

I'm sure people who don't truly know me think I must be depressed since I am perpetually single and don't hang out with people every waking minute.  It is quite the opposite.  Not that I don't have my times where I would like to have somebody around sometimes, but it is only when I attempt bringing a broad into my life that I start to feel down.

Everybody is wired differently and some of us have a short.  Fix the short right (ie: understand, love and respect yourself) and you'll be happier, or at least content.  Keep bandaiding it and you will only have the same issues pop up over and over.

What's really pissing me off about this whole situation, is the fact that media is so hungry for news, they are getting down and dirty.  We need to stand up and quit buying this crap, and watching this crap!  We need to celebrate the life of a great man.  End of story!!
