So in June of 2013 I attended the Groundhog Rock Crawl in Bend, Oregon to take some photo and video of full scale crawling (I'd been into RC 1/10 scale crawlers for a couple years) and I loved it.

In December 2013 I had the opportunity to pick up a 1985 Toyota built for Rock Crawling.

Keep in mind I am completely new to this field, been stuck in front of a computer for the better part of the last 25 years.

It has the following:

'92 22re engine with TRD CAM and TRD header
5.29 gears front and rear (I'm assuming this is the differential gearing)
ARB air lockers front and rear
Dual transfer case Marlin 4.7 kit with stock 2.28
Dana 60 Toyota hybrid axle w/Ford F-450 knuckles
Howe hydraulic ram steering w/all pro hy-steer crossover steering
'94 4runner rear axle
4 piston wilwood disc brakes (front)
GM rear disc brake kit
FJ 80 Master cylinder
All pro 6" extreme flex lift kit w Bilstein shocks and Bilstein bump stops
All pro high clearance cross member
Centerforce clutch
Full cage, front and rear bumpers, rock sliders custom welded to frame

I took it out this past Saturday and competed in the modified stock class at the 8th annual Groundhog Rock Crawl, in doing so I learned just how little I actually know about what all of the above means.  So I'm reading up on the forums here, but figured I'd introduce my rig.

In the above photo it has 38" Swampers on it.  I dropped to 35" tires for the competition so I could run in the "Modified Stock" class.  I'm uploading photos from the event now and will add a couple when they are done loading.

I'd like to calculate the gear ratios but am not sure if I'm missing any relevant numbers.  OK back to reading...

Any other input on the equipment installed would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Sounds like a well built truck, looks good. That front axle is pretty trick.

Sup dude! I've got some pics of you from this weekend. You figure out what's up with your lockers yet?

Haven't had a chance to look into the lockers.  I believe it's just an electrical issue, when I flip the switch for the air compressor it doesn't activate.

I have a bunch of photos from Groundhog too, I'll be posting them to Facebook under Deschutes County 4 Wheelers soon.

So using the Marlin Crawler calculator at http://www.marlincrawler.com/java/getratio_calc.html

I put in the following values:

Transmission Ratio 3.95 based on this entry in a table I found on Pirate 4x4 ->1985-1988 EFI W56 5sp 21 spline 3.95 4cyl 22R Gear driven Top Shift

(Not positive if this is what I have, but it's a 5speed with a 22RE motor... how could I find out for sure?)

Crawlbox #1 is 4.7
Crawlbox #2 - not installed ?

Transfer Case is stock 2.28

Ring and Pinion in differentials are 5.29

so a crawl ratio of 223 (and change) : 1

Does that seem correct ?  Or am I misinterpreting something or missing some data?

and thank you for the welcomes

Another newbie question is there a way to reference member's names that generates a link in the post to that member?

Last run of the day.  Not bad for a guy without lockers!  :smokin:
