I was helping a friend put a clutch in his 86 4Runner and noticed that his bellhousing had some serious cracks, he has a W56-B with a 22R-E. I was thinking that there would be multiple years that I could get a bellhousing from, maybe even non W56-B's anyone have a rundown on which years and types of transmissions that would have the same bellhousing I could look for?

That should work.

The difference between an 85 and 86 W56 was the center plate.    85 was aluminum, 86 iron.

Any bell housing from any w56 a,b,c,d,e will work with that transmission.
