Lincoln City, OR
« on: Jun 02, 2014, 07:29:41 PM »
My family will be vacationing for a few days in July in Lincoln City, OR so I thought I would inquire about any wheeling opportunities in the area. Would it be worth making the effort to drive the 4Runner since it would require two cars?  Can you drive on the beach?

There used to be a small spot you could drive out on the beach, but don't if it's still open. Not exactly a 4x4 play area though. I've done it in a honda civic. lol

Pacific City and Sand Lake are fun and not too far of a drive north.

Little over an hour north of Lincoln City is Sandlake, and farther north and towards Portland is Brown's Camp.  Another two hours to the south is Florence, and it's endless dunes!!

You'll have to let me know when you roll through, and if I got the day off, we could meet up for some lunch or something.  Since I'm in Tilly.  Do the coast line drive down hwy 101.  Hit up Astoria, Seaside, and Cannon Beach.  Fun little places to just walk around and do the touristy thing.

And once your in Lincoln City, hit up the Lighthouse Pub on the north end of town.  They are a McMenamins place.  And great food.  And there is Kylo's on the D River.  Where the kites will be flying.

Let me know what your plans are, and maybe I can give you some ideas of things to do/see.

X2 on Kylo's.  Great food and service.

a cool little town about 20-30 minutes south of Lincoln City is Depot Bay.  Smallest Harbor in the world, kind of cool to watch the boats come in, can be a challenge.  Sometimes the Coast Guard will do rollover practice in the surf with their Motor Life Boats.
The Channel house is a little bit spendy place to stay there but awesome view.

Cheesemaker would be your POC for all things on the coast.

Thanks guys.  We're trying to give up the reservations due to several family things going on, but so far they have only rebooked part of the time.  If we have to pay we'll at least show up, but we're hopeful...
