Ask BigMike about the difference between wheeling in PNW vs crawling in Cali.      He went to a Bobby Long Memorial run, and found out why we need skinny pedal, and not just gearing.

The video doesn't do it justice. The last time I took a group up this trail instead of down it. HeliPilot damn near lost his truck that time. There is an incredibly steep run up to the portion you see in the video. I have more videos of yesterday that I'm waiting for YouTube to process (taking forever).

There is nothing like slip and slide wheeling.  I used to hit up some Jeep trails behind my house, in a stock 87 Ranger and a 85 Nissan.  There is nothing like the feeling of knowing your brakes are locked up, while sliding down a rutted trail hoping to get some traction somewhere!!!   Alot of times you just sliding on skid plates and axle housings.

Alot of brown seats!!

You will really like the power of the 5vz in a 1st gen 4runner. Mine is an auto so I likely loose a few pony's at the ground compared to a 5spd but still the power is there when you want it.

I can personally attest to the level of detail that zippo put into that engine he is a perfectionist and built that engine for the long haul. Whoever buys it will be getting a great, reliable motor.

SO! 5VZ SWAP! I like the 22re, just not enough. So I got a good deal on a 44k miles 5VZ from A&G Auto wrecking. They have so many Toyotas! 9 hour round trip though...

Strapped in for the long ride home.

Home at last! For a junk yard motor it is super clean. They also threw in a 89-91 R150f trans.

Two miles from A&G is toyotaonlyswaps. Stopped by and got a driver side cross over pipe.

Next weekend. LET IT BEGIN! Starting next saturday. The plan is to pull the 22re and the front IFS diff. Cut the diff brackets off and Run 5vz 2wd untill the SAS at the end of june.
If you see it, its for sale.

Dude, you messed up!!  You should have gone done down on friday, and stayed a couple of nights in Cottage Grove.  Cause they have the fastest 1/4 dirt track, and they are racing tonight.  It's well worth going.   I try to go when I can.  It's the only track that you can get pelted with dirt clods in the top row in the grandstands!!  :willynilly:

Plus their Hornet class is the best cause they are stock 4cyl class, and there is always some 2wd toyota pickups in them.

I have it for sale on a few sites. No hits yet. I am going to drop the price tomorrow. I'm trying to sell everything as a package. I might have to part it out, which I don't want to do.

Where do you live that you have such beautiful pickings in the wrecking yard?  Ours are usually a couple very thrashed and gutted toyotas
