1980 Toy Truggy Build
« on: Jan 27, 2014, 10:05:26 AM »
Hey guys I'm completely new to wheeling and the entire Crawler scene... However I saw a Truggy for the first time in person a couple weeks ago and I was instantly hooked!! I've been obsessed ever since... Reading, researching and obsessing. I'm the kind of guy that will enjoy the chalenge of the build just as much as wheeling it.

-Anyway- I just picked up a 1980 Longbed Toy as a base. My plan is to build a Truggy, Linked front and rear, with either a full tube back half or OE Frame/homebrew flatbed not sure yet, on this yet. I want to stick with the stock Toyota Axles. It sounds like doubling up transfer cases is the way to go so I'm planning on that.  Also planning on running Cary's GotPropane kit for fuel. Not sure about tire size, lockers and everything else, yet...

Thanks man! I posted some questions on the NEWB section.. Will be a couple weeks before I can start anything but I found the truck for the right price so couldn't pass it up!

Damn that's sweet! Well right now things are sort of on hold. I found a great buy on other truck that already has a ton of mods done. Although I would not have had the experience of doing these mods myself, it would allow me to get on the trail a little sooner.  So the above being said if I can get this other truck bought I may be going in a different direction and this truck (1980 in the build thread) may go up for sale... It's all kinda up in the air.. Hopefully will know more this weekend!
