Hi steer conversion
« on: Nov 14, 2013, 06:03:18 PM »
So I have an 85 pickup with the push pull style stock steering. I'm running 35's so my steering is absolutely ridiculous.soon I plan to switch to hi steer, however I haven't really found a complete list of what I need. Do I need a power steering box and a pump? How is the pump added in with my motor? And how much longer of a belt would I need? I'm running a 22r carbed. Any help or explanation would be appreciated. :turtle:

you need the complete high steer kit (i suggest marlins) get a 86 + IFS steering box, and ifs steering box mount (marlin), steering dampner, a front hanger,  with the power steering you need the pump, lines, brackets, and resi and a extra pully for the front crank shaft

Welcome!

I ran a nonpower steering box, stock hanger, and no steering stabilizer for years as a daily driver on 33's and never had any issues. They when I got the money just upgraded the box and added the power steering stuff.

i run a stock hanger to keep my profile low (less lift) and so far so good. depends of if your stock hanger is beat up, mine was almost too beat up, but i got it to work. other than that all the stuff listed here. im assuming running 35s you have a lift or ruf or?
When in doubt, skinny pedal!
