Captain Save-A-Yota!! (My Kids first gen pickup project)
« on: Aug 06, 2013, 05:20:59 PM »
Ok so my boy (age 10) is really into rc rock crawling and loves the trailfinder 2 which is a first gen pickup. So we decided that we would build one together for his first (real) car. Turns out my friend said he had a parts truck he needed to get rid of and if we come get it we could have it! So sunday we went and picked it up...

It needs a few parts but its a start and now its not going to the scrapyard and it was free! Our plan is to do something similar to Marlins truck Oem plus bobbed longbed but inthe factory blue... We are going to use all toyota drivetrain except For the motor we are either going to go with a Vw turbo diesel or Vw Tdi if i decide to donate mine to his build;)) fyi we have 6yrs so this will be long term build stay tuned...
See you at the Timberline!

Great project for father and son.  Good skills for him to learn.  Learning how to fix things your self and not paying others is awesome.

I never realized how much my father tought me until my college roommate couldn't tighten 2 screws to fix a door knob!
