What's up guys - I've been in the IFS world for a couple years and on a couple other forums.

It's going to take me a bit to get used to how this forum is set up lol

Anyway - I'm in Chico, CA

I'm starting a SAS on my 96 4runner on Monday over at MP'S Customs.  Going to be building it with Mike and Corey, gonna have some fun.

Specs:

1996 4Runner
411,000 miles
3.4 Auto

I picked up a built set of axles from a friend of mine for a really good deal.  I'm fairly new to the straight axle world, this is going to be a fun learning experience.

HP Dana 44  (late 70's ford f250 I believe)
Brand new 5.13's
Brand new ARB Air Locker
Brand new Reid Knuckles
Superwinch manual hubs
Toyota Flange from High Angle
more.. I'm forgetting...

Ford 9"
Brand new 5.13's
Brand new ARB Air Locker
Fully Trussed
Toyota Flange from High Angle

The steering linkage is already done and setup as well.

3link/3link
ProFender 2.0 Resi 12" coilovers up front
ProFender 2.0 Resi 14" coilovers in the back
Custom built links and mounts
I'll be running some 315/75r16 IROK ND's for now since I recently bought them.

I know I'm forgetting a few things but that's the jist of it.

Hopefully this build will be done before the Round-up, I might be able to make it.  We're shooting for 5 weeks.

Thanks guys.  Yeah it's got some mileage but it's running strong.  Got a bad VCG leak I've been neglecting.  I'm going to replace the gaskets during the swap though since it'll be in the shop.

I'm extremely excited about this build.  Figured I'd join this forum since I moved back up to Norcal (from Tucson).  Dingman is a friend of mine, he turned me on to this forum.  I hope to wheel with some Norcal guys once this build is done.

Yeah I needed to find a shop with the tools who would let me do my part and let me build it with them.  I'm used to doing all my own work, but I can't fabricate and only have basic welding skills.  I can't drive a truck I had no part in building.

Mike is a Bronco fanatic and has built some awesome Bronco's and a few hotrods.  He is an excellent fabricator.  We're having a ton of fun with this build and it's coming together great.

I still have some stuff left to do...

Link setup to finish (which should be done by next Wednesday/Thursday)
Run the ARB air lines and the compressor (easy)
Install stainless braided brake lines (having a guy custom make them for cheap)
Steering shaft (easy, parts are 2 blocks away, fingers crossed my steering box is good)
Weld rear frame plates and drivers front frame plate
Driveshafts (High Angle)
Mount wheels to my 35's (Monday)
Pitman arm and power steering cooler (Monday)
Hook up power steering lines and fill fluid
Weld spot on rear axle where gear oil is leaking (torch went a little too deep)
Determine if t-case crossmember needs to be cut to fit front driveshaft
Make coilover towers
Buy springs and assemble/mount coilovers
Diff fluids, brake fluid
Speedometer

Yeah it will get a full interior cage and a rear bumper with more armor in a few months.

I wish those were my MTR's lol they're not mine, though I'm hoping I can acquire them.  Waiting on some wheel spacers that should be here next week.

yea dings right,we all gotta get our runners out wheeling soon...have every generation runner together lol.

doesnt it suck when u plan for the project to be done at a certain time period then the damn thing drags along while waiting for parts and little things u though u didnt need..aha

i learn to expect the worse now just in case. like always buy spare gaskets and seals just in case theyre needed.

Exactly!

FYI we postponed the high lakes day trip to next weekend since my truck isn't driving yet.  You're more than welcome to come, I'll shoot you a PM Thursday or Friday if you're able to make it.  Either Saturday or Sunday.  Should be me, another 1st gen (he's gonna 4 link his rear next week before we go), a couple of his buddies (prob a scout on 40's and another toyota), my buddy andrew (1st gen runner on 40's) then hopefully Mike if he's able to go.  Everyone seems to be on 40's  :D
