20R correct oil amount

I'm the new owner of 1980 toyota pickup (stock 20R) and in the process of changing the oil. The manual says 5.1 qts, the dip stick shows full at 4, what is the correct amount?

It's 5 with the filter.

Close but no cigar:

changing the stock filter it is 4.5 qts.

without changing the filter it is 4.01 qts.

using other than stock filters larger size used on some Ford trucks and International Scout II(PH8A) then yes add in that extra .3 of a quart.
