Not sure. We found it by accident. We camped at grouse, grabbed our fishin poles and started following the stream that was feeding grouse. It was a real tough hike then the climb down to little dorris was very steep. But so worth it! The views from up there were amazing. At on3 point we could see swamp, grouse and little dorris from the same peak.

Not that big. The biggest was 10". All native so we didnt want to kill them.

There are no native fish in Sierra National Forest lakes. All the natives in the Sierra Nevada were in the Kern River drainage(Further South),and they were Golden Trout). The fish you're talking about might be "wild",but not native.

Native=originally found in that body of water.

Wild=not planted, breeding on their own. But at some point, their ancestors were planted.

looking at the topo map it seems the "easiest" way into Doris is from the ridge above/between Swamp and Grouse.  Contour around to the South and then drop into the lake.

anyone ever get into Virgina Lk?  I hiked to Betty last Thus but didn't make it over to Virgina.

I call them "naturals" and even planters will become natural or "wild" over time.
See you at the Timberline!

If you make up your own language/definitions,nobody will know what you're talking about.

We went straight from the ridgeline going in, but kind of side hilled going out. Either way you go the steepest part is dropping down to the lake. 15 - 20 mins to walk it

Dropping into and climbing out is a real challenge. Pretty steep.

It's not that set up, ATM I have 33's, no lockers (yet)  I have a 3.5 inch lift front and rear with coil overs up front with total chaos upper A arms.  I am not sure if I want to put the money to upgrade it and buy lockers etc, or more what I'm leaning towards  is selling my 4runner and putting the money towards a 79-85 pickup.

My truck has been through swamp and had 33x9.5 with a 3" lift IFS locked rear/limited-slip front. Original owner. It did have to winch a few times. Since then i've improved the truck a little, and looking forward to going again.

Ever try swinging around just to the east and slightly north along the ridge to where the contour lines widen?  That's the route I would try.

Since when?

the 'put and take' system from fish and game has always used sterile 'plants' in Cali in many areas...at least in the lower areas.   The fish are bread to be caught, not to reproduce.  High country drops are probably a different story.  The reason I thought the fish in Mirror were these same 'plants' was their color, body shape and the fact they hardly hit any native bait...but were pure suckers for power bait.  These fish were nothing like I have caught there before, not even close.
