Hello everyone,

This is my first Toyota 4x4 truck, and its gonna be my never ending project. I have a 1979 Toyota Hilux that is named "Jack"

I bought the truck in Rio Linda, Ca ( I live in Sacramento, Ca ) from a guy across the street from my friend. I walked over there and seen it and had to have it. I ending up leaving his property with it for $800. I got an extra pair of 36' swampers plus new bumpers.

Its a clean title with unknown amount of miles.

So he said it didnt run because of a fuel pump so I didnt mind it fired up when I put gas strait into the carb so I was happy. I towed to to my friends to change the fuel pump then drive it to my shop. The brakes had almost no fluid so I was riding the clutch to slow down and when I slammed the clutch in 2nd she fires right up. Then dies 10 seconds later. So I pulled the fuel lines next to the carb and there was nothing in the filter so I syphaned the fuel up from the tank to  the carb so there wasnt any air. Sure thing it fired up and hasnt let me down sense then.

I had a Toyota Mechanic friend of mine come over that has been Wheelin' for years. He looks over the truck and walks over to me with a beer and says " Boy how in the hell you keep getting these lucky deals!".

So It has a 3rd gen front axle housing put in it. And Wagoner springs ( I forgot the size though )

Also I have a new transmission ( 5 speed ) Its ether a W56 or a G series ? I posted a forum in a different section hoping to get help identifying the transmission so I can service my outshaft seal and my shift bushing. Id post pictures of the tranny but I cant post pictures here yet. So I am gonna try and figure it out from the diagram or transmission years on the Marlin Product Line.

Unfortunately it has a disgusting 3in body lift.. Im dropping it down to a 1in within a few days!

Has the stock rear axle but I need to find something else out. Stupid question but whats the stock Ring n Pinion in the axle of this year? 4.37something ? Im not sure. But when I was driving it home with 32's I couldnt get over 55mph... I think my axles might be geared down? Id be hella happy but how can I check. I think only from pulling the whole diff apart but I dont mind it needs new oil and to be resealed around the housing anyways.

Well Im gonna kinda leave it at that for now. I'm making a build thread for my truck once I can post pictures and have full access to the site.

Thanks for everything guys, And hope I can help anyway I can!

I also have a swapped 3rd gen pickup bed on my 79. I personally think its ugly but id love the input from other forum members if possible.

The rear perch's have been chopped and stretched for 63in chevy leaf springs.

I just got dont taking off that horrid aftermarket front bumper... It was disgusting.

Here are some picture ( sorry if there not loading the forum is not really letting me post pictures so it ether works or doesnt. Ill have a build thread up once I get the hang of the site and im a complete member with full access )

This is when I first got her to my shop. Testing the :pokinit: body lift haha
