Hello all. I've been a reader for awhile now and figured the next step in my trucks buildup I'd be spending a lot of time here reading.

I have a 91 hilux surf. It was imported from Japan, and I've owned it now for almost two years. I had a 2 dr 2nd gen runner before it.

Here she is as she stands today.

Mods so far

Arb front bumper. A heavily modified pick up rear bumper from the other guys. Custom rear swing out and has can carrier on the rear bumper. Storage drawers and sleeping platform in the back. On board air is via a powertank. Winch is a warn 9.5 xp with synthetic line.

Tjm 80 series rear shocks and coils, ome front shocks and sdori bj spacers up front. 35 inch Baja mtz tires.

For the engine I've added an intercooler, turbo back 3 inch exhaust and added some scoops in the hood to aid in cooling the notoriously bad for overheating 2lte. I have solved the overheating issue as she now runs ridiculously cool.

So I'm at the point a lot of guys are. Sick of blowing cv boots and bending steering components. Even with brass bushings and a brace the idler arm still takes a beating.

Well I've got a plan now, and it's starting to materialize.

Over the weekend I picked up a rusty old 84 runner and am taking the solid front axle and swapping it onto the surf. While I'm at it I've collected a pair of gear driven t cases to add a doubler. Also picked up some Chevy 63s to put in the rear.

Goal is to easily clear 35 possibly 37 inch tires with the lowest height of lift. The trails we run up here in Alberta mainly need down travel and not much up travel.

I will for sure keep posting pics as he progresses along. Still collecting parts and hope to do the actual swap in July.

Haven't come across any rhd surfs with a sas done yet. If anyone knows of some builds can you please forward me the links.

Thanks all

Sorry for the small pic of the engine. Ill get some better sized ones up.

The rear bumper is a home made creation. Functions exactly how I hoped.  I tow a tent trailer with it off road no problem.
