RUF pack with front/rears
« on: Dec 18, 2012, 01:25:49 PM »
So I picked up a pair of skyjacker softride 3" front lift springs for 1st/2nd Gen and was wondering if they could work for a RUF pack when mixed with my stock rears, measurements shouldn't matter since they would be cut to fit. Was more concerned with springs rate. Maybe just a 5-6leaf pack to clear 35-37's and would start with the main leaf from the rear pack for length and go from there

the first two leafs from the rear pack, then go from there.

X2 add all the leafs you can for the 1st try, then take 1 out at a time until you get the ride/ height you like.

I built my RUF pack using a stock rear 85 4runner pack and my a 85 front pack. I did this mainly because I wanted to move my axle forward but did not want the 4 inches of lift most get from using two rear packs.

Main leaf - Main from the 85 rear
Military wrap - Military from 85 rear
3rd leaf- 3rd leaf from 85 rear (took off spring clamps and that vibration damper)

4th leaf - 3rd leaf from 85 front pack
5th leaf - 4th leaf from 85 front pack

I retained the spring clamps that were on the two front leafs that I used and they perfectly fit around the other rear leaves.

Front sits 2 inches higher now and axle is moved 2 inches forward.

Note: My front leaves where little past flat and negative arched while sitting... Now they are not flat and have a small amount of arch to them enough to clear a flat pitman arm for when I do high steer.
