Yes, but my 7K trailer weights 2000 lbs plus unloaded truck 4500. So that leaves me with 500 lbs to carry tools, coolers, gen, 6 X 8 gal propane tanks, 3 X 5 gal propane, 40 gal of water, and a cord of wood.

Once you step up to 5K axles you have to use 12 inch brakes, so might as well get 7k axles for a few bucks more, then why run 7K axles if your not gonna build a trailer that can support 14K. Its a vicious cycle.

Plus I want to get a 10K tractor down the road.

Who's towed with a pintle hitch? Likes/dislikes compared to a ball hitch.

i would say anywhere from 6k to 8k but have seen less and more...

I don't prefer the slipper style springs, I just dont like how loud they are unloaded, and on rough roads. they do handle nice, but if you switching the trailer between trucks often and dont have an adjustable neck or hitch they are harder to get the weight distributed between the axles correctly compared to the equalizer type.

pintles. i would think for this trailer would be unnecessary but if you wanted still no reason really to worry bout it... they used to be loud, clunky, "barbaric" lol. but there are alot of new hithes designed for quite smooth operation of pintle sytle hitches now..  BUT, they are not as mainstream, if you find yourself in a position were someone needs to pull your trailer and you do not have a pintle, you could be cursing yourself, then again, could be good anti theft
Those are some huge welds!

Awesome. Thanks for the advice I'm a rookie when it comes to these larger trailers. Probably just going to stick to a 2 5/16. Since I already have them.

It has an adjustable tongue and will pretty much only be towed behind my truck.

I like your prices because he is building it for me with quite a bit of custom mods for 3,600.
