Well, I can tell you finding a first gen truck or runner is going to be very rough. almost all of them in the midwest/east are quite rusty. It seems like tons of people get them from cali and ship them out east. And welcome to the wonderful world of toyota's. I've driven the first gen truck all my life 2wd and 4wd. I love them.

not really,  my truck is an Arkansas truck and has (had) very little rust

Ive got a 82 shortbed I'll let go for $500, needs front fenders a engine and trans/tcase (probably can hook you up with that soon) but its got a clean Arkansas title.

we see very little snow here, the only rust I had was between the gas tank and the frame and a spot the size of a quarter behind the front tire on the bottom of the fenders.
