2012/2013 Hunting Pics
« on: Sep 03, 2012, 08:56:51 PM »
It's about that time!  Since we have our own section I kinda figured I'd change it a bit this year.  Please make sure to start a thread if you have a good story to tell, but if you're just looking to post some pics of your kills, please post them here and keep the stories to a minimum.  And anybody caught calling it a harvest will have their pictures deleted   Let's not have any of that P.C. bs here  ;)

Now let's make this thread picture heavy!

Went mountain quail hunting yesterday.. saw a few birds but only managed to get one all damn day >.> Also saw a spike and  a small forky plus a few does. Best part was running up on a bear and 2 cubs

The haul

crappy pics of the bears

Momma was maybe 2 years old and real small. I think seeing them made the day

Neat!  I was seeing and hearing quail everywhere, saw a small buck on the way to my parents then 2 spikes down the road - they saw 2 nice bucks in the back yard of the abandoned house across the street.  Doesn't seem like so long ago a guy could grab a gun, hop their fence and walk into the nearby woods.  Not that we ever did, but as kids we were able to go pretty much straight to the woods from their house.

You'll do nothing of the sort, sir!

Keep meaning to resize the pics of the bears I saw.  Saw this snake in the road too and walked him to the side so no mouth-breathers came along and ran him over "just for fun".

Those really did come out worse than I thought!  Only one worth a damn is the last one where the cub is on the little hill looking at the mom on the trail.

Here is my dad's buck and his bull. Same season. Lucky :pokinit: filled and I got skunked AGAIN. It's been real dry and warm here. Not the usual weather for 2nd season. ONly saw one buck the whole time out, mostly does. Had a great time though. I still have one more hunt before all is said and done. Cow Elk at the end of November.
Buck is still in velvet. He had non nuts haha

We only saw two Elk the whole season. This one and the cow that he was with

This amazing bull Moose walked right through camp. Didn't have a care in the world

Peeling out of hear to Colorado for 3rd season elk and deer.  Raking the rig with me to hopefully have time and play In Moab on the way home!  Hopefully I get another bull this year but nothing's promising.

I wish ya good luck Jon. Hopefully we get some snow for ya. 2nd season was hard hunting. The weather was too nice and the animals weren't out.

Thanks, yea I hope so too so it pushes the elk out of the higher elevations. If no snow then I got to depend on the residential elk n deer on the ranch. Even if there are any.  Haha

It was a very scarce hunt for the 3rd season with no snow until the 7th day. So the snow was 1day late and a dollar short.

But I was able to get me a 5x5 bull and a blacktail doe.
