Hi guys, my name is Victor and I live in So Cal. I recently made a couple friends who drive killer toys and told me about this site  I drive a 1983 Toyota pickup 4x4 and just bought an 1982 for my son who is getting ready to drive :driving:, but we are going to need some help with his truck which will need some TLC. I'm thinking maybe new carb and registration.  Truck runs but wont idle, we only paid $400.00 and body and drive train seems to be in great shape. I am really happy to find this site and look forward to all of your ideas or suggestions.

Hey there , welcome to marlin.
I have an 82 also . Mine had carb problems too.   Try Carb-X down your way they fixed mine for 150 and it runs perfect now .

Vic a quick tip  is to pull vacuum lines one at a time on the carb ,if you see or smell gas it probally has a bad diaphragm. Mine had a bad AAP Diaphragm and was pumping fuel through it to the intake manifold.

Welcome! My old first gen had a bunch of idle problems so I rebuilt the carb and disconnected the stupid electric choke and never had a problem.

I'm in the San Benardino mountains by Lake arrowhead

My 84 truck used to have issues with stalling at times at altitude and I spent a lot of time in your part of the woods. Didn't do it all the time but when it would happen it eventually would go back to normal. Found a hole in the diaphragm, problem never came back.

if you get fed up with the stock aisin you can go to a weber 32 36  check ebay Ive been able to get them from between 45- 80 in pretty good shape rebuild kits are like 16$ really easy to do on a bench, One vacuum line and one fuel line and your good to go, Ive been running webers for like 3 years with no problems and good mpg's But I use LC engineerings adaptor plate because it doesnt leak vacuum like the redline kit, all IMO easy upgrade that last
