Hey Everyone. I'm new here just got myself a 1980 first gen. I'm pretty excited I've always wanted one and im finally gettin one. I'm 16 and had a 94 ranger prior to this truck but i ditched the ranger for my yota! Anyways the truck is super clean owned by a older man since new been garaged its entire life theres ZERO rust on the truck. The complete under side axles frame are all black still. The engine is in pretty good shape just have a few little carb problems but I'm hoping a Weber 32/36 is gonna help me out. Plans for the truck are some 3 inch trail gear leafs dual cases some body armor maybe a winch and some 31's but being a full time student and only workin about 30 hours a week at 10 a hour money is a little tight so its defiantly going to be a slow build. Anyways let me know what u guys think.

Wow, very clean for it's age. Good score. Welcome from Davis. Looks like a great start. Good thing about being a broke ass student is it will give you time to really get to know your truck in it's stock form, which will help you better decide what the best bang for your buck will be in terms of upgrades.

Very nice, congrats!  I have an 80 as well.  You do not need a lift for 31s though, plenty of clearance.  You also do NOT want a weber, that will only be the beginning of your issues, especially being in california!  Find a clean early 22r carb, get the adapter from lce and swap it on.  You'll flow the same as a weber but have a much more reliable and less finicky carb.
