I have been researching and I'm trying to get some dual cases together. I am going to install myself. I'm a little confused on the cheapest route. I was thinking a craigslist t case and a marlin adapter. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. I have a 81 pickup with 5.29s and 33s 4 speed manual trans.

cheap isnt usually associated with duals....  but yes you would at least need another transfer case, one should be a top shift or you will need to convert it to one. Marlin of course is the "best" adapter out there, but its not necessarily the cheapest (notice i said cheap and not inexpensive)...

once you get the adapter, extra case.. of course you will need another shifter, different transmission cross member, modified drive lines, most likely cut up your floors.. prob more than that.. but no much.

iff you know how, and have the ability to fab the parts, say drive line, then of course you will save some money,,

Awesome thanks for the responses. I think I will just sack up and wait to buy the marlin ultimate case so I don't ruin it by being cheap.

Just plan to fork over 1k for dual setup. as mention before, both drivelines need to be cut or at least the rear and run square shaft in the front, crossmember, dual adapter, 4.7 gears for rear or maybe 4.7 for the front also, top shift tcase, some silicon and gear oil.
Going, going, gone

Save your money to do it all at once, duals with 4.7 in the rear and you'll agree its worth the wait. I wouldnt do 4.7 in both cases because its nice to have the stock low for situations where you need a little more speed, and two 4.7's would be too slow

crawlin85 is right ^^
it was the best 2 weeks of wait time, 2.28 front and 4.70 rears best combo really slow when you want it but good speed when you need it
