My Ftoy build
« on: Feb 13, 2012, 08:15:45 PM »
After 10 years of wheelin my 84 4runner i wanted to build a buggy, however i didnt have the courage to start from scratch. I also wanted to use all the good toyota stuff i already had. I wanted to keep it as simple and light as possible. Thats when i discovered the Ftoy. i have on ambition to compete so no rules.
The plan: Full hydro steering, coil overs, 4 link front and rear, 4 seater (for the grand kids), flat bottom, glass windshield, boat sides, affordable.
It took me about six months to build in my back yard with help from a couple of friends. Without the help of Joe this would not have been possible, based on my requestes he built the wire harness to run EFI.

Could we get some more details on the glass windshield and how you mounted it?

I welded .125x3/4 inch flat stock around the windshield opening with a 3/8 hole in each corner. Then weld a frame using 1 inch flat with holes to match the inner frame. The  windshield mounts in the 1 inch frame and bolts to the inner frame. If you dont want to run the windshield unbolt 4 bolts and remove it. http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa480/ftoy2011/FToy-111023-002.jpg
I have not completed mine yet becuase of lay off. I will post pic soon of what i did.
I also added a 1 3/4 inch tube across the top to make a complete frame.

Awesome job on the windshield.  I'd like to see it installed if you get a chance to snap some pics.

I instaled the windshield. Tuned out nice. Getting ready for the cold weather. Put on some side panels hand painted by my grand kids.
