HI, I'm new to this list and am building my first Toyota. I bought an 89 4x4 22re Toyota to build a multi-purpose daily driver, prerunner and parts hauler out of. The stock 4 cyl is still running good, but looking down the road- I'm debating whether to sink any money into it. Even after spending a few grand into a head, cam and or turbo kit, etc. power output would be modest. Supra swaps are an option, but what about the 2.4 or 2.7L Tacoma motor? Seems like that would keep it small and light, but give decent HP. TRD just started making superchargers for these, and it seems like a pretty attractive swap to me. Would it be best to swap motor and tranny to stock transfer case, or will the taco motor bolt up to the old transmission? Not worried about fabricating motor mounts, etc. but wiring is a big ? for me. Can anyone help with advice, experience, just trying to get it all sorted out. Thanks.
