1982 22r motor swap to a 2.7 tacoma motor
« on: Apr 02, 2007, 05:04:35 PM »
Hi i have an 1982 4x4 pick up. I was looking to get more power out of this truck but i want to stay with toyota. I heard that the 2.7 tacoma motor have the same HP as the 3.0 and are dang near bulletproof. I would like to swap the 2.7 for my 22r. If anyone out there has done this swap or has researched it i would apprciate any info so i could see what im going to be up against. Thank You

i have the same truck and want to do the same thing.  i was thinking 22re or 22ret with a cam and headers but i think a 3rz sounds WAY better with 150 naturally aspirated horsepower and an even sturdier design (if thats possible?)
plus the ODB-II computer system the 3rz has is awesome!
plus its a fawkin toyota motor. what could be better? no god damn domestic gas guzzling heap of metal. nah im only joking. the only thing i love more than a built toyota is a full blown american hot rod. oooooh baby. i was torn between building a 4x4 or a street rod.

I want to do a motor swap this fall, but my parents dont want me to. can ya blame em tho??? we DO have a 2 car garage though....its very frustrating. i cannot convince them! oh well...i dont have the money anyways!

I have a job..but right now Im only working 2 days a week which is enough for gas and some food.
Living where I do, I wont be able to live by myself in a place where there is a garage I can actually use for a LONG time.  Living is extremely expensive in sonoma county. I live in "wine country" so I guess thats why it costs so much to live here.  I dont even like wine? Neither does my family.
Anyways I want to move out of california. Its not for me. I think if I get my hands on a 3rz Id be able to do it. I grew up working on cars with my dad..he always helps me with my truck.  He would support me and help me out a lot with all of it.
