allpro load capacity?

Howsit!
     Im planning on sas'ing my 86 turbo next summer after collecting parts this winter...im going with allpro's kit...
my ? is for their rear kit, i haul my honda rincon 680 4wheeler often(about 700lbs), will the rear springs sag bad?... i know chevy's are the best for load capacity and rides like a caddy and all but im wanting to get   everything in one kit instead of sourcing everything from diferent places... pros and cons about hauling with these springs will help me in making decisions

P/s i live in south east alaska so shipping anything here is a total nightmare hence getting everything in one kit

 I think  I'd argue that chevies ride the best and have the best load capacity. Those two are oxymoron's. 700 is alot to put on AP springs. You many want to add some air shocks or possibly air bags.

I know with my chevys (4 leaves no overload) I can carry about a thousand lbs then it gets very light in the front end

Best bet is to call Alcan springs.  They can custom make them for your exact needs.  http://www.alcanspring.com/products.htm  They aren't cheap, but bottom line, you'll have them right from the beginning. 


Also, I've been meaning to call Al-Pro about their "Expedition Springs."  They are for Taco's only, but I'm in the same boat as you, wanting a spring that can flex, but also handle a load.

I don't think that the AP springs are designed with load capacity in mind.  In fact, I think they toss that out the window for trail flex.  I run Alcan's and love them.  They are much more firm than the Marlin (i.e. essentially identical to AP)  springs that I've been around and they still can be easily overloaded in my 4Runner.

One caution, make sure when ordering from Alcan that you stay as standard as possible.  I ordered my front springs to match the dimensions of Marlin's (at the time) because gotrocks was used to doing the SAS with that spring length and we had to send them back because they came in quite a bit flat.  I think it's difficult to get everything perfect with it's a variation on the already custom.

The best bet for getting a load rated spring would be custom, figure out how much you will be carrying then have a local spring company build to your specs. I've done this before for rears, they were still very flexy too just not as good as AP's. I used Long Beach Spring here in CA but they are a bit far for you. Take your truck to the scales and then factor in the load you will be supporting in total so they can get a good idea of what they are working with.

I ran the AP springs when they were made by Alcan. You can put a decent amount of weight on them. You know kinda like pack it tight for that long trip. But 700 may be a bit much.

I think what cheesy is saying that for a better GVWR have Alcan build a custom set. You could go Frankenstien and build your own set too.

I dare say that the springs were a better spring when they were build by Alcan.  I'll skip "the rest of the story" about where Alcan fits into the AP springs story...  I'm not saying that AP doesn't have great springs for the money and for what they are designed to do.  Load capacity isn't one of the goals.

thanks for the insite fella's...
what you guys think of fabbing up some sort a extended bumpstops with some timbran helpers that i could bolt on and off for when i do haul my wheeler? was thinking  in place where the bumpstops would go. or somthing just to give a little help... my buddy has them on his dodge and the timbrans sitt a 1/2 inch away from the axle till its loaded then its sit on axle,would that be dangerous?  i really want to get all in one kit and not springs here hangers there bolts over there

airbags are going to be the way to go. the problem is you are looking for everything from one company and looking for it to be as inexpensive as possible.

yeah i wish i had deeper pockets....im thinking a 4" spacer and some timbrans where the bump stops go. any feed back on this theory.

Timbrens would be fine, the only issue you may have is to make sure that the springs don't end up in a reverse arc before they land on them, basically and effectively bending the main spring.

That make sense,
maybe just have them sitting flush on the axle with no load... think i have a solution, thanks rocksurfer... i just have to make sure i keep the bumpstops w/me at all times if i decide to wheel my truck too... most times i come across a spot while riding my fourwheeler that makes me think "my truck could fit through there"
