Replace 3.0 with 3.4

I have had a 94 4run And my buddy has a 94 xcab both with 3.0 and they never ran the same after infamous head gasket. Any suggestions?  Were also strongly considering a 3.4 swap. Do we have to fab frame side of mount (move them?)? Is tranny bolt pattern same?  :usa:  GOD Bless and thanks for your time
