Need to replace 5speed in 84 long bed 4x4.

I need to replace the 5speed in my 84 pickup. My question is can I swap a different type of trans in without any problems I have a w56 laying around with the transfer case?

Are you done yet?  W56 is the one to have.

I guess my question is will my drive shafts bolt up or is it a simple swap?

simple swap and your drivelines should bolt right up.

is the w56 u have a top shift or forward shift?

Yes. Shouldn't have any issues. You'll need a different Trans tunnel cover thought. The location of the sticks are different.

just w56A's and w56B's 85-87 or 88 i think.

i have a w56e in my 94' and its a forward shift

they are super stout trannys

Thanks for the help I will start on this tomorrow/today. My 84 is forward shift my other is top.
