1st Gen tailgate ??

Anyone know where I can buy a new tailgate for an '83 model ? I have searched for hours and can't find anyone who sells a new one. I found one place that sells the ones with the side latches, but not the center handle ones. 

Finding a used one in good condition is nearly impossible around here . It's going on a DD restoration , not a trail rig , so I need a nice one. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks !

i'd say good luck unless you want a fiberglass one.  just curious, where did you find one with side latches?  mine's pretty badly dented up.

i will sell give you mine if you buy the side latch one for me. will it work on my 83? my tail gate is in VERY good shape

Ok, maybe I'm a little too uptight, but THIS IS NOT FIRST GEN!  Dunno if it was the Stout or the little boxy hilux, but I'm pretty sure they were bringin trucks in in the very early 60s, if not earlier.  I know there were a few years there where the only toy imported was the fj, but there were toy trucks in the states well before 79.  Sorry to rant, and nothing personal, but I see so many people refer to that style as first gen, and recently another guy said he thought toyota started making trucks in 79.  And have you tried auto wreckers?  I've seen new gates sittin in their storage areas before.  I've also seen the rare new gate on ebay,       Nate

it's a 1st gen as far as 4x4s are concerned.  3rd gen if you count 2wd hiluxes.

Yeah, we all know how the ladies    flatbeds , but I already have one truck with a flatbed, and if I build another one,  I'm afraid that ALL the girls might want get in my bed.
