Hi im new to this site i have a problem that im sure gets asked all the time but i need some insight. I have an 89 pickup has 311000 pretty sure it was rebuilt awhile ago. There is a knock coming from the top end its there at idle but goes away at rev. The truck runs great but that knock worries me. Its kinda like a knock/rattle sound. Took it in to get a new timing chain and they said it was a cam knock but who knows. Any help will be appreciated

well you most likely have one (or more) worn rod bearing(s) going out and possibly a crank that needs some work with that many miles. A lot of "rebuilds" aren't as thorough as they should be in order to get the longevity out of the engine...The rocker arm surface flattens out where it rides on the cam and they'll wear each other out. I've seen the cam/mains in the head get so bad they'll ruin an engine.. I'd say it's time to get a long block if you don't have the means to rebuild it, then you'll get a warranty!

Ya i want to rebuild but dont really have the money to do so. Everywhere i look there kinda pricey for a rebuild. Anywhere you suggest to get one?

Anybody have a spare block? Or anything i think it would be easier that way
