Topic: knock when warm

well my motor knocks when its warm, and has low oil pressure at an idle like 5-10 psi. but when its cold it only knocks when i first start it for like a second then goes away. also when its cold i have awsome oil pressure at a high idle. like 45-55. any ideas?

Not likely a oil pump since they are gear pumps.  Tho you could be unlucky enough to have one fail.  If it did fail its most likely the pressure release valve spring is shot.
Either or the whole pump is cheap to replace.  Also if it is knocking when warm your doing damage to the engine by driving it if you are. 
How many miles are on the motor ?  Does it burn oil at all ?  Leak ?

Sounds just like something I just went through. Turned out to be a rod bearing. It knocked on start up but not when it was just sitting there idleing. Then it got worse when it got warm. Then when I drove it got louder. Hopefully this isn't the case with yours. But fortunatly I was able.to find a good deal on a block from the boards! Another thing I remember was good oil pressure at start up but it dropped lower as the engine warmed up.

sparkys just described everything i went through 7 days ago.  perfect timing with the wheeling trip i had planned this weekend.

i ended up being able to trade a TG skidplate i had for sale for a good complete motor over the weekend and now im almost done with the swap...

id start looking for a good used motor or planning a rebuild if i were you.
