How do I know if I have longfield hub gears?
« on: Apr 21, 2011, 12:43:58 PM »
Well...I purchased the truck with 30 spline longs installed.  I would like to imagine the previous owner put in the hub gears as well....However, is there a marking, or a way to tell externally, that I actually have Longfield hub gears?

If not...I guess dropping the coin on a new set of hub gears is cheaper than new shafts...

I don't remember mine having any special markings on them.  call bobby, i'm sure he'll be able to tell you how to tell the difference.  there has to be some way.

We searched over a set of bobbys hub gears and a stock set and there were no markings to prove it.
They might have a different mass, but I couldn't tell you

I would definitely call, I don't think there is much you can do yourself to figure it out.

if you have the previous owners name Bobby should be able to tell you if he purchased the hub gears.

I do have the name, but whether he was the original purchaser or not, I don't know either.  i'll give bobby a call.

Worst comes to worst, I'll buy a new set of hub gears.  I'd rather pay the $120 for a set of hub gears, than $290 for a destroyed short side shaft.

Will post results.  Thanks fellas
