Hey all, new to the forum as a member but have been looking for awhile now. Had the 4runner for about a year now and located in the Fresno/Clovis area. Heres my 88' 4runner and loving it so far. Here is the current pics of her as of today (03/11/11).

And the new shoes and wheels to replace the current setup this weekend:

What do you think? Keep the Crager Soft 8 or the new (used) aluminum wheels?
Tires are BFG KM2 Mud Terrain 32x11.50x15 and wheels are either from American racing or Centerline, not too sure.
Selling the old setup that you see pictured with the Crager Soft 8 that has 31' BFG A/T with 95% tread, which you can find in theses links and location is in Fresno, CA.

 :welcome:

I vote keep the Cragers, the white/black combo looks good. But I put black rims on everything.

Honestly, I THINK I would keep the Crager if they were more deep dished. But at the same time, I do like the white and black theme but I think that it's time for a change. I might come back to black rims but if and when I do, I'll make sure to get a different set :).

*Edit: then again, I could always powder coat the rims pictured there black! Lol!

yoshaleng

super clean runner! I vote for the soft 8's.

4Runner_guy

Hmm....well, I think that I'll make a decision by this sunday. If I end up having the Crager wheels on the day I make the swap, I'll keep the Cragers but if I end up selling them, then I end up selling them I guess. If I had a set of black D windows, I'd wouldn't hesitate to keep them. I think that the Soft 8s just don't really appeal to me, which explains my utter debate with my decision.

toyotech

looks good. just realized it was a runner and not a truck lol
i got a 88 runner as well

4Runner_guy

Nice! Then you obviously wouldn't have any issues slappin these bad boys on your runner! Lol.

Here is the new shoes and wheel combo...

I'll sport this for a while...if I can find a good set of Black D Window wheels, that would be super BadA$$! Always wanted those wheels...

IMMUDDY

Nice runner bud. Welcome to Marlin. See you on the hill.
If I hit it just right, I might make it.

4Runner_guy

Thanks, the rig is coming around slowly. Would love to do a SAS but with the driving that I do (mostly city driving and occasional light trails) it may just be mostly for looks and status :). But it never hurts to have it sometime in the near future so in the mean time, I might just try and get a lift kit or a mild lift by adding 1.5 spacers and longer shackles in the future.

toyotech

looking into zuk mod
i recently done it and i love it so far. need spacers in the front to even out still

Yeah, the spacers should level it out, I've got a bit of rake to my truck since my top is off. I would crank the t bars to max out but would hate the ride and don't want to stress out the control arms. But it would depend, what specs are the Zuk coils u got? Mine are 14 lbs #125. If you have the 12 lbs coils then the spacers may not be needed. Just a little crank on t bars and that should do.

axled89

i love oregon wheelin.

i got a pair of free 99 4Runner Rear springs brand new. they are $16 inch but dont know spring rate. raised my rear bout 4-4.5 inches.  i only had an inch rear sag so i gain 3 inches

Wow! That's high but I like it though! Lol, you might need to get a lift kit for the front to compensate for the additional height! Don't know if the spacers will do unless u go more than 2 inch or more on the spacers but that's too much stress on the upper a arm though. Got any pics of the rig? And do you have a rake to your truck?

toyotech

yea its a little raked lol. i just order some 1.5 inch bj spacers. once i get those in, im gonna see if the i can crank the torsions to even it out. if not, some upgraded torsions maybe the answer or i cut the rear springs :)

heres the before and after pictures.

4Runner_guy

Nice looking 4Runner man! I like how high it sits in the rear. Although, it looks as though if u added spacers, it'll still have that raked look still but I'm sure it won't have that much rake to it. I'm debating if I should get a lift kit as one of the members is selling a used one or if I should just go with spacers, longer shackles, and AAL. Wonder what's the benefit from each of the two and the disadvantages of them. Hmm...decisions, decisions.

toyotech

thanks the passenger side has a nice dent right behind the door due to a delivery driver backing into it. will need to get popped out but wont be perfect :(
from what i have been able to research. BJ spacer will give you more flex if you have the right length shocks. also you can turn down the torsions for a better ride or turn them up for a little more lift. the zuk mod in the rear can give you a lift plus a softer ride as well if you use the 14 inch 100lbs springs.  im still new but that is what i know bout those

Well, you seem to be headed in the same direction I'm headed. Good luck and see you on the road/trail!

toyotech

yup, hope to see you out there. love to roll with other runners
heres with the 1.5" bj up front. its looks more even now but the rear is still a little higher, maybe an inch. but once i load up all my gear it should level out pretty nice

T bars cranked or no? Looks great now.

toyotech

t bars have never been touched. just bj spacers up front.  i plan on pc the wheels a darker color. same color as the strips but darker

Yeah, either add a leaf (AAL) or use the Zuk coil mod to get rid of the saggy rear. I am still running the stock 4.10 gears and don't really have an issue with it...yet.

conigirl

Thanks...i am hoping to get going with "redo guts" first. literally I have not done anything but oil and belts and I have 210k miles...then the lift, tires wheels etc....i'm getting together a to-do list with parts!
