Got the front hanger fabbed up.  used a bunch of scap square tube laying around the shop, was really stoked to find 3 1/2" 1/4 wall tube for the font spring hangers.

Axle out of the 83 toyota (its orginally from an 85 truck).  I already set up the axle with hy steer, ausie locker and 4:88's when I had it in the first gen 83.  So installing it was a breeze this time.

Got the steering Box mounted up too.

Cut out clearance for the pitman arm, rotated the box up, welded in some 1/4" wall pipe, etc.

Working on Gas tank.  Stock 92 tank was EFI with fuel pump in the tank.
I am putting a 22R in this motor which is manual fuel pump with max psi of 4-7 (efi is like 30 psi or something hardcore like that and would blow the seals in a carb)

Pulled the sender (replaced with a aftermarket guage and sender)

Pulled the Fuel Pump and added a hose to drop in the tank.

Started on the re-wiring.
This truck stock had a 22re and computer and a bunch of useless stuff for a 22r carbed motor.  So After Gutting the truck, we had to build our own wiring harness.

Got a fuse panel Rat Rod style from EZ2wire online.  Great Place to start, color coded wires, pre-wired fuses and flashers, it was pretty slick.

Got the wiring roughed in.  Decided to keep the stock turn signal switch on the colum.
The rest of the wiring will be toggle switched Rat Rod style.

Needed to make a insturment Panel for the aftermarket gauges
This is what I came up with using a piece of ash I had laying around :driving:

pic one is the aux lights toggle switch panel, the heater fan is on the black switch on the left (two position switch Hi-Off-Low)

Pic two:  head light switch, red toggle is the reverse lights, upper left silver toggle is the wipers (two position switch Hi-Off-Low)
and the push button on the right is the wiper wash motor (for washer fluid)

If you look closely you can see that the Dimmer switch is on the floor like the old chevy's/ford's

After all the wiring I feel like :attention:

Decided to crack down and buy the brackets for the chevy alternator conversion.
They worked out pretty slick, and I really like the simple one-wire-self-exciter-chevy alternator.

This is pretty dang cool; haven't seen many newer trucks getting carb builds.

For that notched frame behind the steering box, I'd plate it some more "just to be safe" even if you did weld a sleeve in the cut-out area. Maybe a 3-sided box: side, top, side... Just a thought.

I've had Chevy's out back for a while and haven't been hung up on them like people say can happen; I don't doubt it happens, it just hasn't happened to me. They ride really nice compared to the Poor-Comps that were on it when I got the truck. RUFs are coming this weekend; tired of the Poor-Comps.

That wood dash is great, you gonna stain it or anything?

And for $100 and a saw that's a deal in my book!

Thanks for the feed back Dan!
The dash has a clear coat stain on it, I kinda liked the blonde color of the ash with the dark guages.

I couldn't agree more about the chevy springs.

Good luck with the RUF.  Are you running 48" rears or the 51" 3rd gen rears?
Pro Comps are sooooooo rough riding, ugh, those RUF will be great compared to the pro comps....

Pretty nice build thread...

We need to wheel it!

Gary said he'd trade for the red hood as long as your hood is in similar condition.  You should come get that bed as soon as it can drive up here.

That bottom picture-the white truck was bone stock, and it did pretty good, the guy was raving about how good it did (I think it is his first toyota), it was cool to see someone else actually admit that the stock toy's get around better than most rigs.

I know, I tried buying it from the guy, trading my old worn out truck for it, everything, but he just won't part with it.  And it is DEFINENTLY because it is such a sweet ride.

I have the 48" springs; the P-Comps had an inch difference when I removed them... so worn the F out. Awesome. So far it looks like the axle will be about 3" forward from stock; hard to tell without tires/engine for weight.

Love the wheeling/snow/stuck pics; they feel really familiar somehow...
