Thanks guys ! My rigs just stock .. for now , with a rattle can paint job by the previous owner , But has been taken care of thru the years , got a  pile of receipts came with the runner , and get this, the original window stick  from off the lot, the owners manual , and an old 1985 repair manual that is the size of a phone book ! I was stoked to see that !

so my springs are shot , no more curve they are  flat as a board, so im putting this on the top of the long  list of  upgrades , 4-5 " lift  soon as I can ill get some pictures up ,  Get you yota gurus to shine some light  on the correct way to build this out right, only thing I'm bummed about is its an automatic , so down the road I will have to address this issue, From what i been told , a shift kit and some new gears will help out a whole lot,  but well cross that bridge when we get to it !!

thats a great start,
if you got the $$$

coloradobasshead

not really , but im tired of taking the less quality route - this one im going all out- and the first time, if i dont have the mulla for the best, i will wait till i do-  just have to learn what the best is lol i got a good start , hardly no rust and a brand new reman in it ...

Sparkplug

If it was me, id fix the truck, get some good tires, and wheel it stock, while you research all over here and pirate. When you dinally start struggling on the trail, instead of buying a lift kit, spend the money on a nice welder and a grinder, and do it all yourself, exactly how you want.

is it that easy  Spark ? I have read some forums where everything was mad custom , but im sure the guys building it came from a mechanical background to be able to pull of some of the work they did ! Im def a DIYer but there is a line that you have to draw when it comes to specialties ..  lol

coloradobasshead

speaking of welders ,  all the work that is done on these trucks are just stick welders right?

79coyotefrg

you can use any welder you can find that can weld up to .200 inch thick mild steel.

so idealy a 220 v mig welder would be key, and a good angle grinder ! ha

79coyotefrg

any thought to rebuilding your stock springs with some F150 2wd springs?? its very easy, requires NO WELDING, and can lift your truck 3 inches for under $100

coloradobasshead

coloradobasshead

Thanks ! the color is a rattle can , looks decent there , but kinda of brighter in real time ,not so pretty , im working on getting that changed, but really good body , clean , underneath , just a tiny bit of rust right at the wheel fender, which i want to just cut out , gotta get some shots of the new engine .
