Sounds like a great idea to me.  Your fronts look fine so just make the rears to match...

dangit, summers coming around and your making me want half doors for my first gen runner
Sand, what fun, drop pressure to 12psi, stock tires are still digging, can't afford to get stuck, 8psi, still not working. Find a place to GET OUT, air up, un-lock hubs,  WAIT whats this, hubs are UN-LOCKED already. 2wd, 8psi, stock tires, Oregon sand dunes.

early 90s rangers have nice flag style mirrors that are small and easy to mount.....just FYI..

and if yea matched the rears to the front it would look sick
Those are some huge welds!

I used the stock mirror off the 2nd gen doors that I cut down. Worked perfect. I thought about doing the passenger side one too, but then got bored and went wheeling instead.

The 2nd gens fold pretty flat too, so they are outta the way. I flopped my truck in Little Sluice on this same trip and the mirror made it thru no problem.

I would leave the the top half and cut it just like you have it. It looks more complete and you mirrors still work.

[Thread jack]

I have an 87 runner,

depending on location and look I might be interested, but, I know I can make a pair of tube doors with black tube for cheap... especially if I go get what I need from the scrap yard

They are mine, I made them for my 2nd gen extra cab but didn't finish them before I sold it. Had them around when I had a 1st gen runner. I made them hella quick for a rubicon trip. So I didn't "finish" them. IE: welds aren't ground down and never made a "door handle" so you have to pull the wire to open them. In the half door thread there are some pics of how I was going to cut them... Just no finished pics. If your interested I can post up pics. Im located in paradise.
