no,  shop around i had a shop do mine for $150 labor and they installed a locker in one diff.  Buy the gears and install kit yourself, pull the third member and take everything to the shop.

I think the price is a little high.   also what year truck we talkin? (2) 8" diffs,. 7.5" diff and 8",. 7.5 late model and the 8.4 taco. V6
what kind of gears and install kit? Is the shop doing it all i.e. ordering all the parts and doing the install? Is there a locker in there somewhere?

I forget or just try to forget how fast things add up. Rough costs, gears $300 install kits $250, lockers, labor...

X2 just do it yourself it always works better that way.

the truck is an 82 toyota pickup, not sure what the diffs are, i think they are both 8"? and that quote was for the shop to do all the work.

This is just my  on the matter..
EBAY has tons of gear sets. ring and pinion in all kinds of ratios. I have seen Yukon 4cyl set up kits for around 135 bux + shipping. the guys i wheel with and I have had very good luck with Yukon gears,motive gears and precision gears. since you have to take your truck to a shop I would stay away from a cheap gear set. 

shop labor should be anywhere from $35 an hour to $50 an hour. some one who is good with diff's could have it done in no time. Its safe to estimate around 3hrs a diff. ( the garage pulling the diff, installing gears and re installing the diff )

If my truck has to go to the shop I buy all my parts first then take them all to the shop. some places get pissed if you do this, because they can't "double dip" on you. meaning they cant mark your gear set up another 200 bux on and then make another 200 bux on the install.

Murphy's law if it can happen it will happen. have a few extra dollars laying around in case you need bolts,nuts,brake line.

another idea is there is complete diff's set up and ready to go.     good luck

do what i did, take the thirdmember out and take that to the shop instead. saved 400 bucks that way.

i did all my gear swaps. they are easy. take it slow. worst case 350 for yukon gears (no discount for 4 wheel parts; easy to find cheaper) master install kit 100 (also no discount) mesh paint 25 (big thing from o'rileys) and then your choice of locker. read alot. I have or helped done quite a few and now we have it down to rip apart clean and install in about 2 hrs per axle.
