I have an 89 Toyota and I want to do a engine swap looking for diesel but would that do good on the trails or should I just stick with a gas engine I was wandering if anyone her has done a engine swap that could help me out

bigarms23

it would be easier to stick with a gas motor for a swap what current motor do your have in your 89 i would swap in either a 2.7 taco 4cyl or a 3.4v6

3rz's are great on gas and gives you the power you want from a 4cyl.

Stick to gas, with all the new laws coming down it may be hard to get it registered.

I have a 3.o v6 in it now but I was thinking of putting a Chevy v6 vortec I heard those have more power. Then the Toyota v6

my 92 4.3 cpi chevy v6 puts out stock is 190hp but i have headers and a free flow exhaust so i'm around 220

My personal experience with the toyota 3. slows are terrible!
3.4's on the other hand are great.

How r the Toyota diesel engines? Are they ok on trails or should I stick with gas for wheeling

burninfuel

Stay with what you got, regear and have plenty of power. Lack of power is usually the wrong ratio

i would forsure ditch the 3.0 and go 3.4...or 4.3 vortec. Just my .02
