New here. Working on my first Toyota. 1981 Trekker. So far, ARBs front and rear, V6 diff and axle housing, wider version (rear), FJ60 diff trussed housing (front), 529 gears, Ford 6cyl, fuel injection, and just installed new 1" bore master cylinder for the larger drum brakes on the rear. Have a few bugs to work out there. That's why I'm here. Like I said, this is my first toyota so I'm still learning, lol. This should make a great rig for wheeling here in Colorado.

Will be, if I can get the rear brakes straightened out. Running 35" super swampers. Takes a lot to get it stopped!

Welcome   , try running a bigger booster. I run a T-100 in mine with 37's and it stops awesome. Just a thought.

Thanks for the welcome! I have an old booster, same as you are using. I may give it a try as soon as I get the rear brakes to work. Being new to working on Toyotas, I neglected to bleed the lspv. Didn't even know what the heck it was but i figured it had to be a proportioning valve of some sort. New brakes on the axle and new wheel bearings while I had it apart. I "ll try setting the shoes a bit snugger, too. Set them so I could barely get the drum on, but I'll check them again anyway. Thanks for the welcome, again.

:welcome: Which Ford 6cyl. are you using? Also are you using a Toyota or Ford Trans? Thought about putting a V6 in mine.

not sure which tranny it is. it was changed over to a ford 6cyl when I bought it last year. the tranny is a 5 speed and god only knows what the transfer case is. I have been working on getting new heavier axles and arb lockers in it since I bought it. Just got the rear axle finished. Had to get a new axle housing, armor it up, install a Toyota 6 cyl diff with 529s and an arb. Actually, the worst part of the work was figuring out what to do with the shocks. Ended up building an adjustable mount from frame to frame for the top mount and straightening the shocks out so they are straight up and down now. haven't had to do anything with the tranny or transfer case yet. This thing runs great and the previous owner did a good job on the work he did. this thing barely moves in 1st gear, 4 wheel low. if it helps, the trasfer case has 4wd hi, 4wd lo and 4wd hi-lo.haven't really looked at the tranny and transfer case yet.Been busy getting axles and arbs in it the motor has way crazy power for this truck. I picked up this truck for a reasonable price, since it wouldn't run when I bought it. took me about 10 minutes to get it running. the MSD ignition wasn't installed right. The other guy that owned it left some parts on it that needed to come out and didn't have it grounded right. Not sure how the holley pro injection is gonna work out. time will tell, i guess. right now, this thing runs great.

Wish I could post pics! Haven't got 11 posts here yet. Apparently, I need to have 11 before all the stuff on this forum will work for me. I don't have anywhere else to post pics or I would try to put a link in here.
