Excuse the Title its for keywords.
Vehicle: 1995 Toyota 4runner
Engine: 3.0 V6 3vz-e
Drivetrain: 4wd R150F with stock chain drive case
Problem: The Shifter pops or jumps front first gear when the clutch is released. Under heavy load (i.e. acceleration/ launching off the line as opposed to normal starting) the shifter moves out of gear and makes a loud 'bang'. If the clutch is released slowly the shift only shoots back there is no 'bang'.
Details: After personally speaking with Marlin a little over a year ago, I purchased a Heavy Duty (HD) Bearing Retainer and installed it. Previous to this I had purchased and installed a Marlin Crawler Shift Seat and Socket. I have called and talked with Brennen (sorry if I spelled it wrong), and we discussed all the possibilities. I have checked the shift dent balls, and the transfercase mount, the shifter is no contacting the body and the mount is good. We came to the conclusion that it is most likely the shift fork or hub. *I mean you no disrespect Brennen I am mearly looking for confirmation (wisdom in many counselors)*
Question: Is it likely that the hub is damaged? This has happened maybe 25 times.
The hub we are referring to is it the 1-2 slider or the shift hub? Part counter lists them this way.
Could it be anything else?
EDIT: The HD Bearing Retainer fixed the problem for about 8 months, I do not suspect this is the issue.
