Got this runner from 22HILUX on here. I always said I wouldnt build a 4 door one, well here I am, foot in mouth. Only excuse I can give is it is a 22re one, which is only reason I am doing it. It got hit on door and fender, door still opens fine, but frame is bent right behind a arm mount. Came with a perfect door and fender, same color, so body is fine. Frame is bent slightly outwards, slight twist. The twist stops right at the steering box, and right after vin tag on frame. Its not a bad twist, but IFS isnt going to work anymore, thats for sure. So, its getting a SAS, now. I am going to build this one for looks. Ruf chevs in rear, but a lil taller than my other sased runner. This one isnt going to have duals, or much armor. Just gonna get it driving good with a solid axle, and put some nice tires on it. Heres some pics for now, IFS will be off by monday

My theory on the frame being bent, is, as long as the front crossmember hasnt moved, and I get tubes through the frame for shackles straight, then the bend should be irrelevant. Am I wrong in thinking this? I will definitely give it a good look once ifs is completely off, and compare measurements to a normal frame, but wat say you guys? The Front crossmember hasnt budged one bit, the rear body mount where shackles go is SLIGHTLY i mean SLIGHTLY tilted down, very little. No cracks I have found YET. If a shackl;e hangs straight down from the frame, and the crossmember is straight on front, wont springs hang fine? I will armor the frame anyways, but wanted opinions. I COULD redo the whole front section of frame, but if its not needed, I dont want to.

Progess was made. I sold it to my bud 2 months ago, and he just now is gettin to it. It been sittin in my driveway for that whole time with ifs chopped out, talk about LAME. Anyways, we got it on the axle. He was obsessed the whole time with getting his axle FAR forward, I dunno why. Well we got it forward alright, and check out that shackle angle. Yups, gonna have to move that steering box WAY far up too, about 7 inches up, remove body mount, mount box, then REMAKE body mount around it. Fun fun right? Those are norm ruf, I givin hiom a pack of 3rd gens I have, after that shackle angle should be good, if not we takin off crossmember and moving it back. For people in the future, you axle dont need to be this got dam far forward. Lol will, you readin this, I TOLD YA SO. That being said, we doin steering tomorrow, as long as he here early, and ready to bust :pokinit: out.

Looking good man. I had a 2nd gen runner with a 22re, I liked it. Always thought they would be nice for a DD non hardcore truck.

Seriously though, about the safety glasses... my friend used to do that all the time. Then one time he didn't even know he got a sliver of metal in his eye... woke up next morning with rust all over his eyeball. They had to keep him awake to remove the sliver and then use a mini angle grinder to scrape it off while he moved his eye around. Just fyi, not trying to be a jerk. Just after hearing the story many times.. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Hanger is just tacked on, only idiots fully weld their stuff before they plant it on the axle. It will all be fine and good angle when we get done with it here in a couple weeks.

I dont mess around with not wearing safety glasses anymore either. I had an experience this summer while trying to dismount a tire by myself. I didnt realize that there was sand in rim and when the bead broke it shot sand up in a cloud at 40psi and sandblasted both of my eyes. I had to go to the doctors to get all of the sand swabbed out, took over an hour to remove it all. I had to have my eyes closed for 48 hours and drip eye medication into my eyes frequently. I had hundreds of abrasions on each eye. it was so incredibly painful for a week it hurt and took all i could to even have my eyes open as the cold air made it hurt. Never again will i do something without the proper safety equipment.

anyways I like where this is going.

yeah im trying to put axle as far foward as i can 3rd gen ruf and crossmember like1 hlf forward n ima drill spring perches onother inch and a half back pushin axle foward more... i just hacked the radiator support today gotta cut more had to reroute alot of wiring and ac stuff. im gonna have to cut body mount out all the way then weld one back around everything.. im hoping to just have a mall crawler that turns heads and could climb a wall... im not doing chevys in rear jus gnna put fj80 front coils in rear and drop panhard mount few inches ... eventually ill build my owwn links and mounts but for now that will get me enough lift...

Sparkplug

punctuation will, lol at least u chimed it, it his truck, we get it done

he may as well link the front. I sure hope he shims the hell out of that axle or cuts n turns it.. id love to see him not have death wobble without doing so.
thats ridiculous amout of forward... for leafs. your steering and everything else is just going to be such a pain.

Ill watch though

Ok, heres the NEW plan. MOVING TUBES in front of body mount, removed front body mount, have to push box to end of frame, for steering to work with how forward the axle is. Yes I told him today he is going to need to etiher shim or re weld perches at the least, but most likely cut and turn the knuckle balls. I also told him might as well link the front, but he says he doesnt have the funds right now. Heres pics of todays work, he will chime in tonight. As far as steering, it will clear fine, it put the tie rod right where the most arch the frame has is, just mounting the box is goind to be a HUGE pain in the ass, stay tuned for what I have figured out to make that work, def gonna be one of a kind, lol.

I told him about those also, again lack of funds, but that would def sovle the whole 7 inches forward problem
