Nice hood very creative. What are you going to call it a Toycedes or a Meryota.

That is hideously awesome.  Need to see it from more angles. I say if (when) you ditch the front bumper for a stronger tube one, you just turn the signal lights vertically and relocate them into the voids on either side of the grill and call it a day. Nice work on a unique machine!

My thoughts exactly. Looking great!

Got it all painted up, figure the swap cost me about $550 after selling off some Mercedes and 22r.

So its been awhile since I last updated, been working on it alot. So this is what it looks like now.

Things that got down while it was down:
Chevy springs with an AAL
Wagoneer springs
Hysteer
New Crossmember
exhaust
Powersteering cooler from a suburban
14" Bilstiens F/R
5.29s F/R
Bobby longs and cromo hubs
Mercedes emblem for the grill

I'm really liking the 5.29 especially going from 3.90, has so much more power now.

New  ride height

With some garage flex

So I'm thinking of doing something like this next, just something I came up with in paint.

That would be cool. Did you ever see the extra cab first gen 2WD that 4RunnerRick built years ago? Pics are floating around PBB somewhere. The more I read about other people doing this swap the more I can't wait to do it myself.

Nope, I don't think I have seen that one, I'll have to look around for it. Should be very intresting.

Okay its pretty much done, just needs alittle more work with the bondo to clean it up. Thinking about getting some 37" H1 wheels and tires, any downsides to these? I really want the double beadlock capability.

That's a metric ass-ton of fab work! Looks pretty dang good; I woulda done backing panels behind the sheetmetal welds; the welds will lay down flatter, reducing the need to grind for hours. How's that oil burner been running? Now you've got me thinking about giving up on my 20/22 hybrid build to start a diesel swap... maybe from an Audi or Volvo or something imported. But it's gotta have boost!

Yeah it was alot of work, took me about a week total. I'm somewhat new to welding so I don't know all the tricks yet, specially welding sheetmetal. The diesel is actually running really well so far, got 22mpg through the first tank racing it around. Yeah this is my first boosted vehicle and I'm loving it. I put a full exhaust on it but it made it so I couldnt hear the turbo spool, so its open exhaust for me.

So what do you think 33 gallons going to be enough?

Lets see 22mpg x 33 gallons = 726 miles. Yea, I think thats enough.

Did you just use washers and longer bolts to bring the flywheel out to accommodate for the thickness of your tranny adapter?  If not tell me how you did that more precisely please.  I have been thinking about a similar style but havn't made final thought on approach, different engine and it will not be cheap, but now I know it can be done.  Your build looks good.  I enjoy a different set up than the usuall.

sokoji

Actually on this swap the flywheel was sticking out to much and the adapter was needed to be a certain thickness to make up for the difference from stock. I think it was ~.25in

so the mercedes complimented your design from the begining, very convenient.  Still got me thinking about what I will do, maybe it will be the same situation for my plans.
