Superwinch hubs

I was wondering why my driver side hub ends up in the 4x4 position when ever I drive somewhere? sometimes I can here a strange noise front the front end and when i pull over to check it out i find the hub is in 4x4 position, I turn it back to 4x2 and when I get home again its back to 4x4. I'm thinking rebuild or maybe the the small ball or BB is worn ? just trying to figure it out before I tear it apart

If they are Superwinch hubs, that may be the problem. I have never used them, but from what I have been told, the stock Toyota Aisin hubs are much better. Have you tried swapping a stock hub on to see if it does it with a stock hub?

Find stock hubs I've never had any trouble with them other than the normal wear & tear and never has one just locked in on me. They may be a little harder to remove but are worth it.

Although I have no personal experience to back this, I have never heard a good thing about the superwinch hubs. For toyota's, Aisin is the only way to go. For others I've had good experience with Warn hubs.

Sounds like a retaining bearing or something has worn out (the little spring loaded doodad) that keeps it locked in position. Prolly needs a rebuild or replacement.

I had to get rid of my Aisin hubs when the IFS went. I have Superwinch ones now. No problems yet. It sounds like I will, though.

SCTOYOTA...you should of kept your ifs hub and got longfield gears for the hubs so you can use them and that would made them stronger than stock....back to topic, a guy bought a pair of superwinch from where I work at and came back to return them after a month. He said they were giving him alot of problems with it staying locked.

Thanks for the advice. I will do that if I have any issues. I have always heard that the Aisin's are unbeatable.

Yes...stocks are great but it's too scarce to find a spare...Bobby's gears won't break.
