imput needed Up DATED!
« on: Jul 17, 2010, 02:46:46 PM »
looking at getting some thing newer. like a 2007-11 Tacoma with the V-6 and the 6spd trans.4X4
anyone here own one? like or not. how about the little older body ones with the V6 and the 5spd trans.
witch would be a better truck , for dd and trips.
I'd have to find a old short bed truck to bluid as a wheeler.
any way if yous own one tell me what ya think.

I've driven both...and the older one is way better. The new one is just to damn big and its hard to see whats up ahead....better off getting an older tundra.
The previous generation taco is actually pretty solid...easy to see the front of your truck, seating seems higher imo.

I did a lot of research and actually ordered a truck.....from Toyotas #1 competitor, Nissan.  I did a ton of research and everything kept leading me to a new Frontier.  I like the Tacos though, just search around a bit before you drop a nice amount of cash, remember the new Toyotas, are not like the old ones.

Personally I like the older ones, still feel like you are driving a Toyota, the new ones are boats.

I like the old ones better because the frame is boxed.  The newer gens run a C-chanel frame from the firewall back and the '05s and '06s had problems with the motor mounts caving into the frame.  I've seen this at the toyota dealer I worked at and it's not pretty and a pain to fix - even if it is a warranty issue.  If you go with the newer ones, get a '07 or newer - they don't have that issue.  The power is definately better with the 4.0 though.  If you get a older one with the 3.4, get a 1998 or newer because they had figured out the headgasket issue by then and they all got the new style gaskets at the factory.

a buddy had an 06 with a 6spd. constant tranny problems.  i'd go with the older 3.4L 5spd.

http://www.colechryslerdodge.com/ou/san-luis-obispo-chrysler-dodge/2344_777/inv/2003ToyotaTacoma/11754
hope this link works!
when I got there I saw it had a trailer plug on the front under the bumper. and could see where a tow bar had been bolted on it. sale guy said they towed behind a motorhome.
41K mile and the inside looks like new! don't know how many miles the motor was running out of the 41k butt I'll bet not many.  :yesnod:

Nice buy brainless.  Truck looks good.  I bought a '88 extra cab a while back that had been towed most of it's life too and it ran like a top.
