The Supreme Court today overturned Chicago's 28-year-old ban on gun ownership.

And the first thing I hear on tonight's news is that the mayor (& a bunch of other anti-guns) are already vowing to fight the ruling.

Seems there is a lot of violent crime in Chicago, and they equate the possibility of more handguns with a higher crime rate.

Hmmmmm. Handguns are illegal there but crime is high -- and the crimes are not being committed by legal gun owners.  :headscratch:

That's great news. I tired of all this crap about guns. The big government is after our rights... I live in CA, I can't even get a concele and carry lisence.

Well if they didn't overturn it they wouldn't stand a chance of overturning Arizona's immigration law since Chicago's law overrides the constitution and that's what they are saying that AZ's law does. It is good to hear that they do still know what the constitution is and says.

Google search will also give ya many different reads on this.  Quite interesting read.  I did Wikipedia link since it sums up all that I read online about it.

They are still trying to get Oregon's Concealed Carry public knowledge on who's carrying, but most of the sheriffs have vowed to not let that happen.

It's aboaut time! I've been watching this on the NRA sites, and they've been working hard on getting this overturned. Glad it finally went thru. I bet they will watch their violent crime rate drop fairly quickly as the citizens begin to arm themselves and begin to protect themselves from the criminals.

Hmmmm, you should be able to get it unless you have some type of record that prevents it (as far as I know). I've been told that Ca is generally as "shall issue" state, but there are some counties that are "shall not issue", or you need to prove that you have a real reason to need to carry concealed. From what I've been reading and been told, the Sheriff of the county is the one who makes the determination. If you live in/near San Francisco, might as well give it up.
