death wobble

I'm getting death wobble like crazy at about 30 to 40 mph whats going on here guys. i was thinking it could be the POS shackles that some one made and thew on there or the draglink is not parallel

Steering stablizer?  Driveline balanced?

I would check the shackles, the top of the steering knuckles, and u bolts to see if they are loose. I'm assuming that you have a good steering dampener (stabilizer), if not put one in. Make your front wheels are also tight. Just a thought.

If the homemade shackles holes are larger than the bolts then that could cause it, a nice tight fit is best.   This would just about include all steering and suspension parts right down to the tierod ends.

Ive become pretty good at figuring death wobble since I spent so much time tryin to figure out my issue.  The 1st thing to do is set your steering knuckle bearings(trunion bearings) preload.

but seriously,  I agree,  I recently had trouble with DW and found that the one TG trunion (no i didnt buy it, it was free from a friend) bearing i had used in the top of my drivers side knuckle simply would NOT hold preload.  I'd set preload and within 40 miles of hwy driving the preload would disappear.  Obviously the inferior bearing just could NOT hold preload    I was actually surprised at this figuring "hey its a steel bearing"

i got it its alllllll gone no more  wobble it was the stabilizer the old one had a huge dent in the back side and it was shot

Did you find the weeble that dented the stabilizer?

it was dented when i bought the truck about a month ago

It may have been masked by the new stabilizer but honestly you shouldnt even need a steering stabilizer if your trunion bearuing preload is set right. Just an FYI.

Steering stabilizer doesn't really fix anything... may help mask some symptoms of other problems. I think your wobble will begin to return before long.

I think Toyota put a stabilizer on there for a reason, I don't think it was for looks. Granted I do agree that if there is an underlying issue other than the stabilizer then he has a problem in another area. Since it seems that the stabilizer was damaged and it cured the issue I see no other issue. Wobble can occur when lifting, moving and adding suspension parts and is why the larger the tire the larger the stablizer. I understand that high steer systems tend to fix this issue which may have something to do with the push-pull steering. I'm glad that you found the issue that caused your wobble, don't worry about the nay-sayers on stabilizers.

its also do to the push pull steering and a 4 inch lift it makes the drag link not parallel cuz when its not parallel it has a tendency to role and push the tires left to right
